Kevin Harper
Kevin is a local to the Ashford area and he studied at the University of Essex where he obtained a BA(Hons) in Economics and Government. He latterly obtained diplomas in law and legal practice as the Nottingham Trent University.
Kevin is head of the Civil Litigation Department. He deals with many types of dispute including professional negligence, contract, housing, commercial disputes, defamation, insolvency & bankruptcy.
He was recently appointed as Deputy District Judge.
He has a particular interest in contested probate and inheritance disputes, trust law (including co-habitee’s rights in property) and property disputes generally.
Kevin acted for Spike Milligan’s widow in the dispute over Spike’s Estate. He has had recent experience of petitioning the House of Lords. Reflecting on his speciality Kevin is a member of the Association of Trust in Contentious Probate Specialists and of the Housing Law Practitioners Group. He is also a member of the Professional Negligence Lawyers Association.
He has been involved in a number of important cases including Massey v Boulden, Vale v Armstrong, and R v Secretary of State for Work & Pensions (ex parte Hook) all of which established important legal principles.
