The closing date for applications for our 2019 Training Contract has now passed.  Details regarding 2020 recruitment will appear in the Spring of 2020.

Becoming a Trainee Solicitor with Kingsfords

Kingsfords has a strong reputation in Kent and the South East, with offices located in Ashford, Hythe and Cranbrook. We recognise Trainee Solicitors are the future of law firms which is why we have developed a training programme. As a firm, we are dedicated to providing our trainee solicitors with a comprehensive and diverse experience of the legal profession. We aim to provide high quality training across a range of specialist areas whilst developing your skills both personally and professionally. For further information you may wish to review our website.

Training Contracts

Recruitment for our intake of trainees who start in 2019 has now closed. Please come back to this page in the Spring 2020 for details of how to apply for the next intake of trainees.

The successful candidate will be recruited in Autumn 2020. Before the training contract commences you will be employed as a paralegal for 6 months. Upon successful completion of that position and undertaking your post paralegal appraisal you will then start your 2 year training contract. During these two years you will be exposed to a variety of work in at least three separate seats within the firm.

Our Training Director will oversee your training programme and Trainee Solicitors will usually spend six months in each seat with a training supervisor. It is hoped you will gain a wide range of experience and develop your professional skills, laying the foundation for a successful future career in law.

Who should apply

A strong academic background is required preferably with a minimum classification of a 2:1 degree, or equivalent.  In addition, you should have strong inter-personal skills coupled with enthusiasm and initiative, be commercially aware and ideally have previous relevant work experience. Candidates must hold a current clean driving license as you may be required to work between offices.  If you do not meet one or more of these requirements but excel if other areas these factors will be considered.
